It's only May but received a record number of convention weekend registrations by this month over ALL previous years.
Not everybody has roommates yet so if you've already registered, or are thinking of registering, now's the times to think about "Bagging-a-Buddy".
Its easy if you know other members here but not everybody does, so its best to be on the lookout for "roomies" early.
There are many wonderful benefits in sharing a room with other JemCon attendees/members - here are a few; 1 - (The obvious) Room discounts! A room cost split 3 or 4 ways really slashes the costs in this uncertain economic environment. 2 - You can be sure that you have lots to talk about - You're all here for the Jem convention afterall. 3 - Its a great way to make new friends (or rekindle old friendships) and find out more about the people you've been chatting online with all year. 4 - If you're a newbie, rooming with somebody who's attended a con before helps you feel more at ease so you're less likely to feel like a loose-end. 5 - Knowing that somebody is waiting for you (and probably equally as nervous) on the other side of your journey is rather comforting.
If you're a bit shy about revealing too much about yourself from the start, why not try posting a few basic details about yourself with your "roomie" preferences? You can use the charictaristics of your favourite Jem characters to help you find similar personality traits of potential roomies.
For example, I'd post something like this for my roomie request...
"30-something, hard-working Shana-a-like (complete with opinionated Kimber-esque twin sister) seeks Jerrica or Video type ladies to share a room at JemCon. Girly, chat and make-up-friendly preferred. Must be female. We dont smoke but are not offended by ciggies so smokers are more than welcome. Must be able to tolerate minor sisterly squabbles."
Say's quite a bit without getting too personal right?
OK - now its your turn. Start your own thread or feel free to reply to this one.
The staff will be happy to help pair people together and we'll always try our best to make sure everybody fits in.
Good luck roomies...

Bob is right - it's never too early to think about what you are going to do for accomadations at JemCon. Bob I am taking you up on your ad! Count me in for another round of JemCon rooming fun!
To be honest this really is the best way to save a little extra cash (so you have more to spend in the dealers room!).
I know people are probably hesitant about rooming with someone they may not know, and it's totally understandable. But it's also a fun way to stretch your comfort zone. For example; I roomed with Bob and her sister Jacki in LA and I hadn't met either of them, ever and it worked out wonderfully.
Of course you do need to be specific about what you can and cannot tolerate. Otherwise you might be predisposing yourself to a disaster situation.
Again if you have any questions or need any help feel free to contact anyone on the staff, we are happy to help! See ya'll soon~

Ladies,
Well put! It seems once we all get together anyhow, we quickly don't seem like strangers!
I also wanted to add in mention of our "ride share" tradition. Every year, many people who may be driving alone or need a ride talk with others from their area and create a "JemCon Carpool" Again, the benefits are great economically, practically and gives you great Jem company for that long drive.
Soon we can post a separate topic about this as well.
I can't say enough for the ride/room share. It keeps your expenses down, gives you great company and also makes a trip to a new place that much easier! Of course you also, if you're new to JemCon, you get the benefit of having good friends to look out for you and help you keep up with the schedule!
Thank you ladies for sharing your experience. I was there to say Bob & Shevona in fact had not met, but once they shared a room, they were the best of friends and inseperable!
JemCon is great like that!

That's true Sean, Shevona is even coming over to the UK to spend some time with her English and Scottish Jem-friends in the next few weeks! JemCon really does open geographical doors with all the friends you make around the world and its so easy to feel part of one big happy family! :)
