Each year, JemCon is priviledged to play host to some of our favourite Jem voice artists, writers and other influential people directly involved in the making of the Jem animated series, products and merchandise.
These wonderful people are still prevalent in the cartoon, comic, gaming and toy industry today and take time out of their hectic schedules to spend time with us and offer their support.

Samantha Newark :: The speaking voice of "Jem/Jerrica"
Samantha is an accomplished performing ASCAP writer,
who's original songs
and stellar vocals can currently be heard on such hit TV shows as the
CW Network's
"Gossip Girl",
"Life Is Wild" also
MTV's
"Laguna Beach",
"Punked",
"My Super Sweet Sixteen"
and ABC's
"10 Things I Hate About You".
Sam has also written, sung and placed
original songs for the Warner Bros. Telepictures Productions and
ABC film and television library
with her song "See You Never" released during March 2009 on the new Warner Bros. Telepictures
Music (Volume 1) "Think Inside The Box".
Sam has also leant her versatile vocals to
Sony Playstation and
Electronic Arts'
huge hits
"God of War",
"Twisted Metal Black",
"Wild Arms 3" and
"Everything Or Nothing"
and has the distinction of being invited to join the esteemed
Leonard Cohen
circle, embarking on an exciting project as one of his two backup vocalists
for a project in late 2006.
A powerhouse singer, writer and live performer, currently residing in Nashville
TN, Sam continues to grow and explore her gorgeous sonic landscape on her
brand new self-titled Pop/Electronica CD that has just been licensed in it's
entirety to MTV.
An accomplished voice-over artist with an international following for her
nominated animation work as the lead on the smash cartoon series "Jem and The
Holograms" guest staring roles on
"The Transformers" and her work as the
British voice of a young Peter Pan's mother in
Steven Spielberg's feature film
"Hook",
Sam looks forward to continuing to lend her vocal, voice-over and song-writing
prowess to many more exciting projects to come.

Britta Phillips :: The singing voice of "Jem"
Britta's first real job after moving to NYC as a teenager was as the
singing voice of Jem. Soon after, she co-starred with Liam Neeson and
Julia Roberts in the 80s movie "Satisfaction". Britta continued acting
for another year ("Crime Story" and pilot
Aaron Spelling's
"Nightingales"),
but then move to London with her
band, Belltower to pursue music.
In 2000, Britta joined the band LUNA as bass guitarist.
LUNA's album,
"Penthouse," was recently deemed one of the
best albums of the 90s by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2003,
Britta and LUNA frontman Dean Wareham collaborated on the album,
"L'Avventura," together with producer
Tony Visconti (David Bowie and T. Rex).
Britta and Dean spent the better part of 2005 and 2006 scoring films
(notably Noah Baumbach's
"The Squid & The Whale"),
before returning to the studio to record their second full-length disc,
"Back Numbers".
Britta has continued acting in the occasional TV commercial and
provides many voices for the stop-animation Adult Swim shows
"Moral Orel" and
"Mary Shelley's Frankenhole".
Dean & Britta's latest project began as a commission
from the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh to perform music to accompany
13 of Warhol's silent film portraits from the 60s.
They released, "13 Most Beautiful: Songs for Andy
Warhol's Screen Tests", a double CD, in July 2010.

Ellen Bernfeld :: The singing voice of "Pizzazz"
Ellen Bernfeld, best known by the Jem community for her role as bad girl singing character, "Pizzazz" from the Jem animated series, now performs as "Norma Human", singing with satirical wit about world events and against political injustice for the masses. Ellen was also "Menage", the 80s disco artist, and the voice of ten different singing characters in "Songs For Dogs" and "Songs For Cats" - writing the songs with her partner, Anne Bryant (also of Jem song writer fame).
A longtime NYC studio singer, songwriter and actress, Ellen has sung popular commercial jingles and sung with major recording artists on their albums, while also releasing her own singles and albums around the world.
Ellen is the President of GloryVision Ltd (website no longer available).

Anne Bryant :: Song-writer for the Jem™ animated series
Anne Bryant is a composer, arranger and producer of music for television, advertising and film. She composed the Transformers theme and the theme and songs for the Jem show. Along with partner, Ellen Bernfield, Anne wrote the songs in their albums "Songs For Dogs" and "Songs For Cats".
Anne is a writer and multimedia artist working with film and video, music, art and design. She has created mathematical software for film composers and authored texts on the subject of finite timings.

Michael Charles Hill :: Script Writer for the Jem™ Animated Series
Jem fans will know Michael for writing one of the best loved episodes in the Jem series; "Out of The Past",
but this creative and accomplished story writer has played a major part in some of the most successful popular
culture franchises of recent years.
In a career spanning from the early 80s to the present day, Michael has worked with such production giants as Hanna-Barbera,
Hasbro, Marvel Productions, Mattel and Walt Disney Company, and has been involved in the development of popular greats,
G.I. Joe, Inhumanoids, Jem and the Holograms, My Little Pony, Sailor Moon, Transformers and Wonder Woman.
Working with Griffin-Bacal/Sunbow Productions in the late 80s, Michael played staff writer and producer for G.I. Joe and
Transformers. Amongst other things he supervised scripting, developed character models and was heavily involved in voice-over
recordings and post-production for G.I. Joe, Transformers, Jem and the Holograms and My Little Pony.
Later, Michael would be recognised for his work as Editor for Walt Disney Comics including Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers,
Duck Tales, Roger Rabbit, and Tale-Spin. Michael also deserves similar acknowledgement for his role as Editor at DC Comics,
along with Creative Director credits for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
In the present day Michael works as a Writer and Production Consultant for Factory Point Entertainment,
developing properties for animation, toys and licensing, as well as providing
consultation services for other creators. His current projects include A.R.K. Angels, Dracula Jr. & The Agents of P.O.E.,
Gearheads, and Space Vampyres.
In his emails to us, Michael revealed his surprise towards the impact of his career;
"25 years ago, I had no idea that the work we did on G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Jem would resonate so
deeply with our fans and would have such a lasting impact."
